Leicester City’s Ricardo Pereira has been named in a European XI by a prominent statistical analysis outlet. Alongside Kylian Mbappe and Kevin De Bruyne.

It’s fair to assess that Ricardo Pereira and Wilfred Ndidi are probably the two most crucial Leicester City players in the squad at present. Yes, there are more skilled, regular goalscorers like Jamie Vardy or James Maddison – but if you surveyed the fans, this Foxes expert believes they’re your two winners.

In fact, the Portuguese is also arguably the biggest fan favourite at the club. Ricardo is as affable as he is adept on the pitch, making him a popular player amongst supporters. You’ll always see him interacting on Twitter, as well as having a laugh and occasionally answering or fulfilling his fans’ requests.

Last season the former Porto man secured his place in Leicester folklore as he scooped the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Year awards at the club’s end of campaign ceremony. What an achievement that is: which tells us that Ricardo is as highly regarded by his team-mates as his adoring admirers.

Statistical monster at Leicester City

Obviously nothing compares to closely watching and monitoring a player whilst in the cut and thrust of a Premier League matchup, but statistically, Ricardo is also outstanding. During 2019/20 he has made the most tackles of anyone in Europe’s best five top-flight divisions. A quite stunning output.

It is naturally imperative that the east Midlanders retain the 26-year-old’s services in for the next term. That scenario is more likely due to Ricardo’s current status, recovering from serious injury.

Consequently the Portugal defender made the WhoScored European XI, thanks to his average match rating of 7.50. Ricardo is selected next to superstar Virgil Van Dijk – and doesn’t seem out-of-place one iota.
