Leicester City were torn apart first half by Tottenham Hotspur, due mainly to defensive mistakes. Here are the disappointing Foxes player ratings.

It was a bit of a disaster class this Sunday afternoon for Leicester City. A first half full of defensive calamities, bad luck and good chances. The excuse of missing three quarters of one of the best back 4’s in the country is valid, yet these defenders are still Premier League players. The race for champions league goes to the final day in a must win game against Manchester United, but lets looks at how everyone faired in yet another disappointing result for the Foxes, this time versus Spurs.

Kasper Schmeichel- 6

He couldn’t have really done anything with any of the goals, he didn’t have a lot to do apart from a good save from a Son shot, and his distribution wasn’t that bad, either.

Ryan Bennett- 3

Awful. At fault for the first goal as he just fell over at the sight of Kane, and at fault for the third goal because he is horrendously slow. Definitely a Gary Taylor-Fletcher kind of signing. Foxes of Leicester do not expect to see the Wolverhampton Wanderers owned, loanee Fox on Filbert Way for the 2020/21 campaign.

Wes Morgan- 5

He wasn’t awful, but nowhere near as good as last week. I did say in my analysis that a side with more pace than Sheffield United would do a lot of damage and it showed. Wes was troubled a lot by Kane and Son but he couldn’t have done a lot with any of the goals.

Jonny Evans- 5

The same as Morgan, he wasn’t awful but was outsmarted, outmuscled and beaten for pace by Kane all game.  Some poor passes throughout but nothing much he could do with any of the goals.

James Justin- 5

Was unlucky with the first goal, and got forward well, although he definitely needs to work on his crossing. Justin was slow getting back for the goals.

Luke Thomas- 4

The Leicester City fairy-tale of his debut faded this match.  After starting okay and creating a great chance for Perez he fell away and should be taking the blame for the second and third goals as he was way too weak in challenges. Chilwell would have been criticised for those errors and so should Thomas, he’s very promising going forward but he has a lot of work to do on his all round game.

Wilfred Ndidi- 5

The Nigerian was nowhere near his tenacious best. He won the ball a lot but that is to be expected. He gave away too many fouls and gave away the ball a lot.

Youri Tielemans- 5

Tielemans’ play was okay and it looked pretty enough, but he struggled in challenges and wasn’t courageous enough with the ball.  His corner were pathetic as well: so many hit the first man, and the second goal came from one of those.

Harvey Barnes- 4

Barnes just didn’t know what to do when he had the ball apart from run with it.  He had no cutting edge at all and played Kane onside for the second goal.  There is a good player in there, but you do think that without pace he would have little else.

Ayoze Perez- 7

Perez was easily the best player for the Foxes. Had a really good effort expertly saved by Hugo Lloris and had another long-range effort well saved.  The Spaniard was positive, played on the half turn and was the only bright spark in the side.

Jamie Vardy- 6

The top goal scorer was lively and had two or three good chances, but he was starved of space the whole game and wasn’t given the ball by anyone. Just one of those games. Occasionally Vardy gave the ball away cheaply.

Leicester City substitutes

Demarai Gray- 5

A typical half for the winger. Comes on when the team is behind, has no space, sticks out wide and is genuinely ineffective. Gary Neville was spot on when he said he usually receives the ball in ineffective areas.

Kelechi Iheanacho- 5

The Nigeria international looked decent but the game was gone by then.

Dennis Praet- N/A

Did not appear for long enough to fairly judge.

Nampalys Mendy- N/A

The same reason applies.

George Hirst- N/A

A wonderful moment for him in his career to get his first appearance, but did not feature long to impress or falter too much.

Manager- 6

Brendan Rodgers didn’t do anything wrong. His hands were tied with the injuries and he was never going to change the team after the Sheff United game.  You can’t blame the boss for having one eye on next week, he tried to go for a goal but realised saving players from fatigue and preserving the goal difference is very important.
