Leicester City: Three players who should be sold in the summer
By Akash Roy
Ndidi’s prominence simply means that the players who play in the same positional domain will find themselves at the bottom of the totem pole. So it’s of no one’s surprise that both Nampalys Mendy and Hamza Choudhury find themselves in this unfortunate situation.
The injuries this year have taught the East Midlanders to have adequate squad depth, so that means a backup CDM will always be needed if Ndidi is anyway unfit. A choice to cover up for that role is Leicester loanee Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who is having a remarkable season for Lutton Town, he can play in three roles as CM, CDM, and CAM.
So it’s clear that either Nampalys Mendy or Hamza Choudhury could be sold this season. Mendy is valued at €5M as compared to Choudhury, who is valued at €12M. Hamza’s price tag would certainly help the club to get a better return to add to the budget for the window. Mendy would probably stay as he has played more matches to help out the team during a major injury crisis this season and has recently received his maiden Senegal call-up for the International break.
Wretched Rachid
It is true that Rachid Ghezzal, after being loaned to Turkish Süper Lig club Beşiktaş this season, has found his best form yet. Valued at €7M in the transfer market, Leicester City should look to cash in his form quickly to collect a good return on the Algerian.
Ghezzal has never linked well with the LCFC system. He was uninspiring for the team during most of his unimpressive performances and since then has been under various loan spells each season. Beşiktaş is now at the top of the table and that certainly increases the chances of consideration for the 28-year-old Algerian by a number of European clubs scouts next season.
