Leicester City star Wesley Fofana was pictured wearing an Arsenal shirt on holiday. He then made a peculiar excuse to Foxes fans after causing some concern about his intentions.
First of all, I think Fofana is a wonderful defender and a seemingly lovely guy: anyone who wears a constant smile has my vote. Yet, at age-20, he’s still prone to the odd naive mistake and wrong move. Wearing the jersey of a Premier League rival will do the trick.
Leicester supporters are well aware that the former Saint-Etienne man is a character; that, as well as his gift as a world-class footballer, endeared him to Foxes fans even further. When the side went on a poor run of results after he bleached his hair, the youthful centre-back publicly said he’d change the colour back to normal, which he promptly did. This token of respect or superstition made the player a man of the people – a true favourite at King Power Stadium.

Fofana is currently injured and on holiday in Dubai. And good luck to him; the Frenchman has certainly earned his vacation and rest for his incredible form this season. But the club will want him resting, not “coaching” games for his friends. Brendan Rodgers will now be worried that the starlet is participating in ‘kickabouts’, something prohibited for elite professionals – especially when injured.

However, the thing that has upset some of the Foxes faithful is the fact that Fofana was wearing an Arsenal FC shirt whilst playing, sorry, ‘coaching’ abroad. Listen, he can do what he wants within reason; sporting a Gunners top definitely means nothing with respect to joining the London outfit this summer (‘LOLs’ at some Gunners fans’ thirst and delusional theories).
Following the photo causing a major stir between King Power and Emirates fans online, Fofana took to Twitter to explain why he is in an EPL rival’s iconic garb. Essentially the French Under-21 man says he was tricked into being in red by close friends as they swapped shirts at the final whistle. OK(?). Probably should avoid that, Wes, if you’re reading, I know you follow FoL’s account.
To his credit, Fofana also confirmed that the picture wasn’t intended for public viewing on social media, but presumably a private one for his “sphere”. Furthermore, the likeable athlete then offered an apology to the Blue Army for any offence caused. While additionally denouncing the friends who seized an opportunity for “bad buzz”, in the players own words.
Finally, and most pleasingly for Leicester support, Fofana also claims he has no animosity towards Arsenal or their fans, but stated that ‘only blue is in his heart’.

Conclusion
Look, I’m not running some sort of LCFC detective agency, but it is my job to give opinions on everything about the club! And Fofana could’ve scored an own goal here, at first my intelligence felt insulted, whatever that means. Although, VAR seems to have intervened and cancelled out the figurative finish at the wrong end.
The comments I read from Leicester followers were all positive towards Fofana, and I commend you for that. Though, I’m a bit of a cynic, and believe he was bending the truth about some of what he said, as to not upset Foxes.
It’s no crime to be an Arsenal fan – even if that legislation should possibly be considered in Parliament, yes I brought jokes – so the Fox can wear what he wants, even if it is frowned upon by his team. But I wouldn’t do it if I were you, Wes, only ’cause I’d want to avoid unnecessary bother.
However it is strange that there seems to be a separate shot of him in the same top on the second embedded post (above) within the replies. Like I said, he’s allowed to support anyone he wishes to, it doesn’t mean he won’t be on Filbert Way come August – which is where FoL fully expects Fofana to be.
