Foxes of Leicester look at who were Leicester City’s best three players in 2022, with a number of contenders here is who we narrowed it down to and why.

Leicester City’s James Maddison

Not only did the number ten have a fantastic start to the 2022/23 season but he also ended the 2021/22 season with four goals and provided three assists in Leicester’s last four Premier League games. Maddison carried this on into the current season and has so far recorded seven goals and four assists in just 13 games in the Premier League.

His ability made it impossible for Gareth Southgate to ignore him and forced his name into the England squad and onto the plane to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. ‘Madders’ should be available for the Newcastle game on Boxing Day and we hope that he extends his amount of goals and assists and shows off the talent that he truly is.

Youri Tielemans

Although he only scored one goal and supplied two assists in the latter stages of the 2021/22 season his attitude on the pitch is what sets him apart from other players. The Belgium midfielder has also recorded three goals and one assist so far in the Premier League this season, not to mention the absolute wonder strikes two of them were.

Tielemans has also been handed the captains’ armband when Jonny Evans has been absent which is where we’ve really seen him come into his own, he looks very confident on the pitch and really takes on the leadership role.

The number eight also featured a number of times in the Belgium team during the World Cup in Qatar before they were knocked out after a goalless draw against Croatia in the group stages. Youri also netted in Leicester’s Carabao Cup game on Tuesday night against MK Dons where the Foxes went on to win 3-0 and have progressed into the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.

Leicester will find out their Carabao Cup quarter-final opponents in tonight’s draw live on Sky Sports. That reveal will follow the conclusion of Manchester City Vs Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.

Wout Faes

Although the Belgium defender has only been here for a few months of 2022, we believe he is more than deserving to be on this list not only for his own efforts but also how he has helped those around him. Since Faes came into the Leicester squad they have only lost three of the nine games he’s been involved in. The no-nonsense defender is calm and content at the back and isn’t afraid to drive forward with the ball.

The ‘cult hero’ has also helped Daniel Amartey to grow as a player and has made him into a better player by giving him directions during games. Faes won’t shy away from a tackle and isn’t afraid to get stuck in, Leicester have also only conceded nine goals since Wout has come into the side which shows how much he has helped out what was a nerve-wracking defence to watch to help them progress into where they are now.

Leicester City now have the challenge of Newcastle United at the King Power Stadium on Boxing Day. The Foxes will be looking to take all three points to climb further away from the relegation zone. City currently sit in 13th place on 17 points after Brendan Rodgers’ side won four of their last five games in the Premier League before the winter break for the Qatar World Cup.

On the other hand, Newcastle will be more than determined to win the game which would see them go up to second place in the Premier League. Manchester City don’t play until the 28th December against Leeds.

The Magpies won five in their last five games in the Premier League before the break, so it looks to be an even matched game. However, Newcastle seemed to struggle to beat fellow Premier League side Bournemouth in their Carabao Cup game on Tuesday, so after a long break off this could be the best time for Leicester to play an in-form Newcastle side.
