If it continues like this for Leicester City, there is only one way- which leads back to the unforgiving depths of the Championship.
It has happened again: a subpar performance at home where Brendan Rodgers’ men should have salvaged something fruitful. There were no shortages of chances to turn the game around that LCFC squandered multiple times. Sadly, whether it was due to the lack of cohesion or decisiveness- Leicester City was unlucky in their repeated attempts. To add insult to injury, former City player Ben Chilwell opened the scoring for the visitors Chelsea, which was equalized rather brilliantly by Patson Daka.
Leicester 1 Chelsea 3. Hat-trick of wins for Graham Potter & a first Premier League road-win for #CFC since October. Last time they scored three away EPL goals was May 2022 at Leeds. After that, however, the game transpired on the misfortunes of the hosts, who looked indecisive in their approaches. With Bournemouth and Everton winning their games today, the table is changing rapidly. Soon, the King Power club might find themselves inside the danger zone, as they are only one point away from safety. The Foxes should retain the bad taste left behind from this game and try to act on it, as time is of the essence. The fight for survival has already begun!
Taking notice of the three worrying signs
1. Leicester City should know fortune favors the bold
Fortune always favors the bold. To have luck by your side, you need to give your best.

Clearly, Brendan Rodgers’ team is not doing that at this moment. The initial sparks shown right after the winter transfer window soon got extinguished. The hunger for points has died down, and it shows.
Marc Cucurella made 7 successful tackles against Leicester City, more than any other player has managed in a single Premier League game so far today.

Can the outfit afford to lose anymore? The players should be asking themselves that question. There were three good chances in this game to recover from a deficit, but each time the players in contention provided no quality to settle their claims. Yes, Andre Marriner didn’t help either, but that won’t work as an excuse.
The responsibility of keeping this team afloat resides solely on the manager, whose questionable starting line-up perplexed the very best of us. Maybe expecting to win against Chelsea is too much, but repeated mistakes of losing to lower sides such as Southampton leaves a lasting impression that chips away any confidence from this team’s core.
2. Defense without cover
For the next games, the East Midlanders will have to work without Wout Faes, who got sent off in the 87th minute for two yellow cards. It was refreshing to see Jonny Evans return towards the end, but it puts the side in much jeopardy with the centre-back pairing that Rodgers will have to work with against Brentford.

3. Not a shoulder to rely on
Today was Leicester City’s fifth consecutive loss, where the side conceded ten goals and scored only two! That sheds some light that neither of the available options upfront is a reliable source for the boss.
Kelechi Iheanacho always has an unreliable demeanour, while Patson Daka is erroneously inconsistent. Jamie Vardy is past that age where he can do something to bail us out. Without them, the wingers are in dire demand, which they struggle to provide for! Neither Harvey Barnes nor Tetê is a sufficient threat. The side is slowly turning mum offensively. It is a growing concern for the challenging end-of-the-season must-win games.
The Foxes would need to secure 1.33 points on average per game to have any hopes of surviving this season. Even if they do, the ridiculous contract situation will leave them more depleted.
By the summer, several players whose contract situation is up in the air will be leaving for nothing. The side would need to fill up those vacancies with no additional money coming in. They have to sell an asset off, like James Maddison, deteriorating the quality further.
