The first game without Brendan Rodgers ended in disappointing fashion. Aston Villa was able to defeat Leicester City 2-1 in the King Power stadium. It is a real travesty that we walked away from this game with no points. The side played great today. However, self sabotage from a couple of players cost us points today. On the late Khun Vichai’s birthday, we left him disappointed.
Leicester came into this game with their typical 433. Daniel Iversen got to continue his run in goal while the backline consisted of Timothy Castagne, Harry Souttar, Wout Faes, and Victor Kristensen. Their midfield included Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Nampalys Mendy, and Wilfred Ndidi. Up top had a sole striker and two wingers which included James Vardy, Harvey Barnes, and James Maddison.
The character, Emiliano Martinez was the main man between the sticks for Aston Villa. The defenders included Ashley Young, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings, and Alex Moreno. They had two talented wingers Leon Bailey and Emi Buendia. John McGinn, Douglas Luiz, and Jacob Ramsey controlled the midfield while Ollie Watkins was the sole striker up top.
The first goal of the game was struck by Aston Villa. A lead ball is given to Watkins as he dusted past Castagne. Watkins would then have a horrendous strike but it would somehow sneak past Iversen. However, the foxes would strike next. A beautiful ball sent by Faes was received by Barnes. He would one touch it past Young and then hit it across the net, unsavable for Martinez.
The second half was a disaster for the East midlands team. A stupid challenge from ‘KDH’ in the 70’ got him his second yellow card and sent out of the game. Then, with three minutes left in regular time, Ndidi decided to pass the ball to no one instead of clearing it. Substitute Bertand Traore would captialize and finish it top left bins. All seemed over until Patson Daka got fouled inside the box. However, VAR would confirm Daka initiated the contact instead of Watkins, reversing the call. It was game over after that.
Leicester still sits 19th in the league with 25 points. It is going to be a massive challenge to avoid relegation this season. Changes need to be made in the squad before it is too late. The foxes now have a must win game against AFC Bournemouth this Saturday. Bournemouth currently sits one place above us with 27 points.

Leicester City player ratings
Iversen 6- Iversen had an up and down performance today. The goal by Watkins can simply never hit the back of the net. It was a good run by him however, that attempt at a finish was terrible. So sad that Iversen can’t save that. He then made some good safes after that. Unfortunately for him. There is nothing he could do about that Traore goal. It was a great finish.
Castagne 4- Rubbish performance for him. While Watkins is making a great run he is complaining for the offsides. Villa players were able to get past him like it was nothing. He was beyond useless when it came to attacking. Was a complete waste of 90’ from him.
Faes 8- Fantastic performance for Faes outside of the defeat. His assist to Barnes was beautiful. He was making his usual tackles and winning duels. Sadly his team let him down today. He can’t take any blame from that performance.
Souttar 7- Souttar has no aerial ability when it comes to attacking. However, he makes up for it defensively. He wins every aerial dual on defense and he was great with his passing today. He needs to finish that corner header attempt. We could have had a point today if he finished that.
Kristansen 7- Another game, another winger stuffed into his pocket. He is such a brilliant youngster. It is hard to find hope in this squad yet the pitbull is defiently that bright spot.
KDH 3- Worst player on the pitch and he should be ashamed of that performance. Two idiotic tackles got him sent off. A Premier League player must have better IQ then that. He contributed nothing positive to the game and it’s been like that all season. KDH needs to be called out for these atrocious performances.

Mendy 6- Was another solid game for Mendy. He was all over the pitch like normally. It was a strong game in the mdifield until KDH decided to self sabotage. Speaking of self sabotage…
Ndidi 4- This was embarrassing and I really hurt to do this because Ndidi was so strong on the defensive side of the ball today. But oh my LORD this player can’t pass the ball to save his life. I haven’t played football in years yet Ndidi looks like me passing the ball. That 87’ shenanigans was an embarrassment to every Leicester fan. His passing simply isn’t Premier League quality.
Maddison 5- Simply vibes out there. Didn’t do anything. I will forever respect Maddison because he’s done so much for us. However, he simply doesn’t care about us anymore. He is ready to leave this summer and he is counting down the days. I just hope we love him when he leaves instead of bashing him.
Barnes 8- What a freaking baller. 10th goal of the game and it was a Cristano Ronadlo type finish. He had Young on his heels the whole game. He simply can’t hang his head down after that performance.
Vardy 5- Yea Vardy shouldn’t start another game this season. We’re simply a man down when he is playing up top. He has yet to contribute something positive this season besides when he checked Wesley Fofana. That is not enough to start games.
Substitutes
Daka 6- In his short stint, he gave us more than Vardy did the whole game. Shame that penalty didn’t count at the end of the game. Could have changed the mood of the fanbase.
Everyone else N/A
