Leicester City continue locking up talent for the future agreeing terms with Andy King and seeing off Liverpool interest in Ben Chilwell

Leicester City have had a strong two weeks in terms of keeping their existing talent on the payroll for the future as club captain Wes Morgan and star forward Jamie Vardy both announced new deals recently.

However, not to go under the radar, homegrown midfield talent and Welsh International Andy King put pen to paper on a new four-year deal. The 27-year-old has been rewarded for his service to club where he has been a part of their rise to the top and with title medals from League One, the Championship and most recently the English Premier League.

King is currently the club’s highest scoring midfielder according to his contract announcement by BBC and his 331 appearances show just how valuable he has been in the past years of the Foxes run to the top of English football.

Aside from King’s well deserved opportunity to continue earning his place in the Foxes first eleven, young fullback Ben Chilwill equally has earned his right to a new deal. The Leicester City Academy grad has been with the Foxes since he was 12-years-old and turned down a move to Liverpool this summer in order to sign a new five-year deal with his childhood club.

Speaking to Leicester City’s official television station Chilwell was “buzzing” to have signed a new contract and he is hoping that there will be more of an opportunity for him to stake a claim to a regular first team place this season:

"“I’m happy with my decision and I can’t wait to get started this season. Hopefully I’ll play a lot more games this season and make myself a team member”"

King and Chilwell’s new contracts continue to nail down the summer business for the Foxes and Claudio Ranieri with the club appearing focused on a clear vision for the future of keeping the players that have gotten them where they are today and holding onto and developing the talent they have for continued success in the future.
