Leicester City assistant manager Craig Shakespeare is set to join Sam Allardyce’s backroom staff according to sky sources.

Shakespeare, who joined Leicester City as Nigel Pearson’s assistant, later helping the transition to Claudio Ranieri as his number 2 looks to be leaving after a 5 year spell at the club.

Despite this news, it may not all be doom and gloom for foxes fans, Leicester City and the FA have been understood to have come to an agreement on the Leicester’s assistant working on a part-time basis, similar to that of Gary Neville under Roy Hodgson when Neville took to Spain with Valencia.

Losing Shakespeare on a full time basis just a month after ‘head of recruitment’ Steve Walsh left for Everton to become the Toffee’s ‘Director of Football’ would have been a huge blow.

While Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri is more than familiar with the squad, Shakespeare has had two spells with the club and will have valuable insight into the title winning side.

Shakespeare however is not Sam Allardyce’s number one choice in assistant.

Former Derby boss Paul Clement looked set to take the job after getting the call from Allardyce. Talks fell through however after Clement’s employers Bayern Munich, whom he’s working for as Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant manager, refused to let Clement work on a part time basis.
