Leicester continue working to fill up their squad to the desired level of manager Claudio Ranieri and it looks like they are close to adding more firepower in Lucas Perez.

Last season with Spanish La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna, 27-year-old attacker Lucas Perez scored 17 goals and added a further 10 assists for his side as they finished 15th.

However, after his strong season, Lucas Perez has become a hotly tracked target in both Spain and abroad and English Premier League champions Leicester City are believed to be on the verge of completing a deal for £12.5 million according to the Leicester Mercury.

In many ways Lucas Perez is another self made striker having battled from the Atletico Madrid C side all the way through eastern Europe to find his way back home to Spain.

Having spent time in Spain but failing to land a major move on the Iberian Peninsula, Lucas Perez took a move to the Ukraine in 2011 to FC Karpaty Lviv where he made 60 total appearances scoring 15 goals. During his 2011-13 two year period he experienced a brief loan with Dynamo Kiev that never came off.

Once again in 2013 he decided to make another change moving to PAOK Salonika where he scored 10 times in 50 appearances in 2013-14 but would be loaned to Spain in 2014-15 with Deportivo before signing a permanent deal with them in 2015-16.

With what appears as a constant desire to move and find a better opportunity it is no surprise that the 27-year-old is tipped to complete a move to Leicester City by some time next week.

The chance to move from the lower half of La Liga to the defending champions of England is not one that comes along often and Lucas Perez is expected to take a hold of another chance to improve his place in football if the deal with Deportivo can be completed.
