What’s more likely, Leicester City winning the league at 5000-1 or ET landing in the middle of Piccadilly Circus? Ranieri thinks he has the answer.

Last season Leicester City had the same odds to win the league as Elvis Presley being found alive at 5000 – 1 and while Elvis sadly still seems dead, Leicester City did however win the league.

Their miraculous title win hasn’t phased Claudio however, while spending the majority of last season insisting that the ‘goal is 40 points’ he has now come out dismissing the idea of Leicester City retaining the title.

Speaking to the media, Ranieri said:

"“It is normal we can’t win the league. For this reason I say the bookmakers must do 6,000-1.”"

"“It is impossible, it is more difficult than last season. It is easier ET comes to Piccadilly Circus.”"

The reasoning behind Mr. Ranieri’s pessimism is due to the strengthening of the other sides in the league.

Leicester City’s title win was a miracle with all the other sides failing to capitalise on the failings of the teams around them.

United have gone on to buy Pogba and Mikatarian while singing Zlatan Ibrahomovic on a free transfer.

Zlatan saw his header beat Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel last weekend in the Community Shield, winning Manchester United the first silverware of their season.

Manchester City have strengthened throughout the pitch and Chelsea managed to attract Leicester City’s engine N’Golo Kante, another reason Leicester City may fall short.

All in all, Leicester will not have an easy time of it in the sense of the way they won the title last season.

The top 6 will all be battling for the top 4 places which may see Leicester City fall down the table drastically.

Ranieri went on to say

"“Now we have to fight. Our target is 40 points and then see what happens, and if possible to make good experience in Champions League, if not reach the knockout phase in the Champions League, at least the Europa Cup. That is our ambition this season.”"

"“We can compete only with the same keys; our strength, our soul. If it is enough we are ready, if not they are better, it is okay. I will shake their hands when they beat us.”"

So it’s the same usual story from Claudio, 40 points and focusing on the next match, Ranieri has already written himself into the history of Leicester City, however should he reach the knockout phases of European football or deliver an FA Cup, he’ll be remembered forever.
