Following Leicester City’s opening weekend loss, the Foxes continue to deal with talented young wingback Jeff Schlupp wanting to leave if he cannot get an answer about where he stands with the club.

At the age of 23-years-old Leicester City academy graduate Jeff Schlupp is ready to start making his name for the Foxes in the first team. However, he continues to slip down the pecking order both at leftback and on the left flank.

Christian Fuchs and 19-year-old Ben Chilwell lead the race for a spot at leftback. Schlupp has an even longer list to wait behind on the wing since the arrival of 19-year-old summer signing Bartosz Kapustka.

For the last few days Schlupp has been the subject of a bid believed in the range of £12 million for a move to West Brom as the Baggies are in need of a regular first team choice at left back and on the wing.

The Leicester Mercury believes that Schlupp is set to be offered a new contract by the Foxes in hopes of not losing a homegrown talent. ESPN claims that he is going to be allowed to leave as the club recoup funds to help balance the books from their busy summer.

Schlupp made an appearance for the club in their FA Community Shield match against Manchester United but did not even feature on the bench for the club’s opening day loss to Hull City.

Having made 24 appearances last season, Schlupp was hopeful that this season would see him have a more regular place in the squad with Leicester competing on four fronts.

However, it looks as though a move is going to be the most likely option at this point with the player and manager seeming to be falling out over his future at the club.
