Leicester City have moved on another player this summer having agreed terms for the permanent move of Liam Moore to Reading.

In what potentially could be a move that defines Liam Moore’s early career, the promising young 23-year-old defender has left the Foxes for a permanent move to the Madjeski Stadium.

More from Foxes of Leicester

Moore spent part of his early career the last few seasons on-loan to Bradford, Brentford in their rise from League One to the Championship and Bristol City last season.

However, the bulk of his real first team experience was during 2012-14 as the Foxes earned promotion back to the Premier League and then 14 appearances under Nigel Pearson in the club’s return season to the top flight in 2014-15.

Despite his promise and efforts that were highly thought of under Pearson, Claudio Ranieri seemed less interested in giving Moore a chance to impress as he was sent out to Bristol City where he made 10 appearances last season in the Championship.

Many would have thought that this season Moore would have been challenging for a squad role as a second choice rightback behind Danny Simpson and potentially a fill in at center-half during cup matches.

A tweet from the defender just over two weeks ago highlighted his frustration politely as he was looking forward to the new season but was obviously frustrated that he did not feel he was to be a part of Leicester City’s future:

The suspisions were confirmed when it was announced today by the Leicester Mercury that Moore has been moved on in a transfer to Championship side Reading for a fee of £1 million and having signed a four year contract.

Only £1 million seems like a small fee, but his lack of real playing time last season is likely to have seen his stock fall a bit.

It is said that he was offered a new deal and was wanted to go out on-loan again, but Moore truly just wanted to have his future more secure and thus took the option of a permanent move elsewhere.
