Leicester City travel to Belgium on Wednesday to play their first match in European action since the 2000-01 campaign.

Having last played in Europe in the UEFA Cup 16 years ago, the Foxes will enjoy a clean slate as they step into the European elite for the first time in their history as Champions of England and members of the exclusive UEFA Champions League.

Leicester head into Europe with a point to prove as their domestic campaign has not started the way they would have liked, but they can stop many doubters with an opening strong display in the Champions League.

However, their opponents in the opening tie of the group stage, Belgian Champions Club Brugge, are in the same frame of mind as Leicester.

Since the start of their season the Belgians have lost three games, drawn once and one once only collecting four points out of their opening 15.

Leicester equally have only collected four from a possible twelve plus add a third loss when they fell to Manchester United in the Community Shield.

Both sides are in major need of a positive result. Danny Drinkwater came out with a bold statement that the Foxes can win the Champions League this week, and it will be the hope of himself, his teammates and the club’s fans that he isn’t forced to eat those words.

You can find out the latest injury news for the Foxes in our injury analysis here, as for now lets get to the possible lineups for tomorrow.

Luis Hernandez is certain to remain in place of injured Danny Simpson, while a poor display this weekend for Shinji Okazaki is likely to see club record signing Islam Slimani make his debut.

Projected Lineups

Club Brugge (4-5-1): Butelle; Cools, Engels, Denswil, Bock; Vormer, Vanaken, Claudemir, Simons, Limbombe; Diaby.

Leicester City (4-4-2): Schmeichel; Hernandez, Morgan, Huth, Fuchs; Mahrez, King, Drinkwater, Albrighton; Slimani, Vardy.
