Leicester City: Skipper Wes Morgan praises Okazaki and Fuchs
Following this past weekend’s victory over Crystal Palace, Leicester captain Wes Morgan has hailed two of his squads unsung heroes.
Two of this past weekends goal scorers for Leicester City were Shinji Okazaki and Christian Fuchs.
Okazaki broke his Premier League duck that goes back to March while Fuchs scored his first Premier League goal for the club in fantastic fashion.
Their goals came at a time when confidence in some ways with the first team is very low with star forward Jamie Vardy having been dropped to the bench allowing Okazaki the start.
Doubters were silenced with the two players strikes being part of an impressive 3-1 home victory for the Foxes.
However, the real hope is that the two of them can be an important part of fixing the away form of the club as their dropped points on the road in the Premier League sees them failing to get out of the middle of the table.
Fuchs’s impressive form comes on the back of him recently signing a three-year contract extension with the club.
Speaking to Leicester City’s official website, Wes Morgan discussed the significance of the two players to the Foxes first team:
"“Shinji is so important because he gives 100 per cent all the time and the role he plays is unique. He plays as a forward but drops into midfield when we are out of position. He hasn’t had too many chances to prove himself this season, but I’m sure he has given the manager a headache with the way he played on Saturday.”"
The continued success of Christian Fuchs also was on the mind of Morgan as he discussed the players recent contract extension:
"“Christian is a unique character, always trying to joke around, and he is fantastic in the dressing room.“I’m delighted to see him extend his future with Leicester, and if he can chip in with more goals like his first one for the club, everyone will be happy.”"
Following discussion on his teammates form and performances, the talk turned to the Foxes away form.
Morgan is frustrated as much as the rest of the fans and squad as to why their away form is so off when compared to their strong home performances:
"“I’ve no idea why our form is so different between home and away – we just need to find a way to improve our results on the road, but once we get that first away win, we will keep improving.I’m sure the manager is trying to find the right balance and our strongest formation, and our next game is at Tottenham, where we had a very big win last season.”"
With a full week to prepare for their upcoming trip to White Hart Lane this weekend, the Foxes will be looking for an impressive performance and hopefully some away points.
