Leicester City have been battling to try and improve their Premier League form this season and took a small step forward over the weekend.

While many would look at Leicester City’s failure to take three points against newly promoted Middlesbrough, defender Danny Simpson is choosing to look at things differently.

Last season the Foxes weren’t always winning, but they were doing everything they could do to make sure they did not lose when they were on the ropes.

So far this season the Foxes have failed to live by that same strategy and are languishing down near the relegation zone and every point is important.

Over the weekend it looked like the Foxes were about to suffer another frustrating home defeat to Middlesbrough in the same mold as they did to West Brom prior to the November international break that saw their home record finally fall.

Following the match, Simpson spoke to LCFC TV in regards to the match and was happy to have seen himself and his teammates fight for a point:

"“We’re disappointed with the goals that we conceded but I think at 1-1, just like the West Brom game, we thought we were going to go on to win.I think today (Saturday), like the last couple of games, we were fighting to the end. It didn’t happen for us in those last couple of games but today it did.”"

Although it has been a frustrating season so far for Leicester Simpson believes that despite the results that his side are still more than willing to show up and fight and that they want to win games:

"“I think we’ve shown fighting spirit and it could be a big point and a turning point in our season. We want to win games, but if we can’t win then we don’t lose – we were like that last season and we did that today. It was really important not to lose today, especially not three on the bounce in the league and two on the bounce at home.”"

Leicester now look towards their next match at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland as they hope to take advantage of the Black Cats equally poor form this season and pick up a much important three points.
