Leicester City struggled with their summer recruitment this year and with the side obviously looking to strengthen in January the rumors are getting stronger every day.

According to the Leicester Mercury, Leicester City are getting deep into their discussion with Belgian club RSK Genk for 19-year-old midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.

The Nigerian international is thought to be a player for the present and future as the Foxes have struggled with midfield talent and depth this season following the loss of N’Golo Kante to Chelsea and the continued injury struggles of Nampalys Mendy.

Reports surfaced several days ago that Ndidi was on their target list and now it appears that an offer in the range of £14 million is thought to be on the table for the talented youngster.

Ndidi also has the ability to deputise in the central defensive role and could help to add cover in multiple areas for the Italian manager as he looks to make some changes and rebuild his side’s formula for success in the second half of the campaign.

The 19-year-old has proven to be a major part of Genk’s current season success having already made 28 appearances for the club including Belgian Jupiter League, Belgian Cup and UEFA Europa League matches.

His interception rate in those competitions, according to the Mercury, rival and better those of Kante in the Premier League last season. However, it is hard to compare life in the Premier League to any other league because of the level of top to bottom competition being better than arguably any other league in Europe.

There are also reports that Manchester City are in the hunt for the player and it would be of great emphasis for Leicester to get their deal done early as to prevent any other side poaching their target in January.
