Following the red card received Leicester City’s star striker Jamie Vardy, the club elected to appeal with the date now being released.

Any other day and Leicester City’s comeback against Stoke City on Saturday would have made the headlines, unfortunately it was the referee Craig Pawson who recieved all of the attention.

The red card came out of Pawson’s pocket after just 28 minutes when he elected to sent Jamie Vardy off for a ‘two footed’ challenge on Mame Biram Diouf, a turning point in the game which led to a frustrated Leicester City side which received 6 yellow cards following the striker’s dismissal.

More from Foxes of Leicester

To add fuel to the fire, questions were raised of Pawson’s consistency following his views on Manchester United’s Marcus Rojo, who lunged into a challenge on Wilfred Zaha against Crystal Palace less than a week earlier without even seeing a yellow card.

Due to the controversy surrounding the red card, Leicester have elected to appeal the decision with confidence that the red card will be rescinded before their clash with Everton on Boxing Day.

An FA panel will decide the outcome of the appeal tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday).

Should the decision be overturned, Vardy will be available immediately for their next game against Everton however should the FA deem Craig Pawson well within his right to send Vardy off, not only will he miss the Everton and West Ham games, the star striker will also miss out on a trip to Middlesborough.

Whatever the decision on Jamie Vardy is, Leicester will still go into next Monday’s match with two key starters banned.

Both Christian Fuchs and Robert Huth face 1 match bans following their 5th yellow cards of the season which they received during Craig Pawson’s yellow card spree.

With Hernandez most likely filling in for Huth and Ben Chilwell coming in for Fuchs, it’s the perfect time for the two players to show why they deserve a place in Ranieri’s team.

Hernandez was bought in during the summer by Ranieri however is often played out of position at right-back rather than centre-back where he is most comfortable. Should he have a solid game, Ranieri might have a question or two to answer regarding his team selections.
