Leicester City have made an offer in the region of £500k for Coventry City’s George Thomas, as per an exclusive report from Sky Sports

Coventry City are understood to have offered Thomas a new deal, however, Leicester City are ready to step in for the 20-year old, who’ll soon be out of contract. The Sky Blues are also due compensation for George Thomas, which might result in a delay.

Thomas is a product of Coventry City’s academy, mostly remembered for his winner in the EFL Cup final at Wembley. Although one of their own, the U-20 Wales international was born in Leicester and still lives there. Talk about familiarity.

Speaking about George Thomas in a recent Q & A seesion with Coventry City fans, Manager Mark Robins said:

"Robins said: “George Thomas has not signed his contract.“It runs out tomorrow and I’ve told him that he can’t sit and eat with us because he is not paying for his food anymore. He’s a great lad and I’d like him to sign.“He’s Coventry City through and through but he’s at a crossroads in his career. I’m sure we’ll find out in the coming days what will happen because there is some interest in him but he’s a great lad and we’ll just have to see what happens”."

Judging by his words, it’s clear that the club are resigned to lose their top scorer from the last season (9 goals) but are hoping that they somehow manage to convince him to stay. Surely, for someone who already lives in Leicester, the King Power Stadium should be a dream? We’ll see.

Among the other clubs to be pursuing George Thomas are Swansea City, who Leicester may have to fight to bring in Gylfi Sigurdsson as well. Seems like the Swans Vs Foxes could be the battle to look out for, after all.
