The fairytale in England was and well and truly over as reality hit Leicester hard, but there was still some gas left for the European dream to be lived and lived well. First under Claudio Ranieri and later under Craig Shakespeare, City continued to stun their opponents in the UEFA Champions League.

The highlight of the Champions League campaign, however, remains their knockout punch to UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla to make it to the quarter-final of Europe’s top club competition, something that even Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea have failed to do in the recent years. It was a night like no other. It was the night when Leicester took on a European giant and won.

Leicester were eventually knocked out by Atletico Madrid but only “just” in a 2-1 aggregate win.
