Leicester City have agreed a deal to sign Sevilla captain Vicente Iborra for a reported fee of £12.5 million, the La Liga club has confirmed.

The 29-year old will now fly to England to complete his medical alongside the other formalities before he heads back home to bid farewell to his club.

An official statement read:

"“Iborra has always shown an exemplary behaviour and has earned the unanimous love and respect of all Sevillians,” the club said"

It was reported earlier that City were in advanced talks to land the Spanish midfielder, having seen him dominate the middle of the park in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie.

Iborra made 172 appearances for the La Liga giants, winning three UEFA Europa League titles during that time. He also scored a healthy 30 goals across four successful seasons (seven last term), further highlighting the eye that he has for goals.

Vicente Iborra’s coup, Leicester’s second of the summer after Harry Maguire, will undoubtedly go down as one of the best signings that Leicester City have ever made. As well as being familiar with the art of winning big games and trophies, the Sevilla midfielder is a natural leader too, something that his soon-to-be side have badly missed after they sold N’Golo Kante.

City spent a significant amount of money to try and find their new Kante last season, but were unable to do so with both Nampalys Mendy (out injured) and Wilfred Ndidi failing to set the standards that the Frenchman did. The arrival of an experienced campaigner like Iborra will hopefully help them improve too, so when the time comes, they can step up.
