Foxes in the market: Leicester City close to signing Kelechi Iheanacho
Leicester City have edged closer to sealing a deal for Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Manchester City player was a rumoured target for both West Ham United and Everton, the former being the favourites to sign him from Manchester City.
However, West Ham have now dropped any interest in him, paving way for Leicester to make him their third signing of the summer for £25 million.
The news comes shortly after Leicester announced Vicente Iborra’s £12 million capture from Sevilla, making the day even better for Leicester City fans across the globe.
Kelechi Iheanacho was initially keen on a move to the London Stadium, but a late, late decision from Slaven Bilic meant that the Hammers put his dreams to bed, leaving only one possible option for the Nigerian: Leicester City.
Iheanacho has been widely regarded one of Nigeria and Premier League’s brighest talents, often making an impact for Manchester City as and when he is given the chance to.
In 64 appearances since his debut back in 2015, the 20-year old has found the back of the net on 21 occasions. As much as it highlights that he is not the finished product, it’s also a reflection of the potential he has in him to be a world-class player.
Almost certainly, Iheanacho will prove to be a great signing for Craig Shakespeare, who has bossed the transfer market so far, hitting the nail on the head with every new arrival. Leicester City are also said to be after Gylfi Sigurdsson, although the his £40 million price tag may put the Foxes off.
