Everton are interested in signing Leicester City’s Demarai Gray, according to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol.

The 21-year old has been dubbed as one of England’s brightest talents, a reflection of which was an impressive World Cup campaign with England’s U-21s as he netted twice in the tournament to help the Three Lions lift the trophy.

His performances on the big stage have attracted a lot of the Premier League’s big boys, and both Everton and Liverpool look set to fight for his signature. The Toffees in particular have been the busiest of all the PL clubs this summer, making them the favourites to sign Gray, shall he show any interest in a move away from Leicester City.

The Englishman struggled for playing time in an underwhelming 2016/17 campaign on all fronts. While he made a significant 43 appearances last season, he only started a mere 15 of those, scoring three goals and assisting a further six.

The chance of representing a historically great club like Everton may be very appealing for any player of his age – and especially with Ronald Koeman as the manager – but staying at the King Power Stadium would be a wiser decision, given the number of options Everton themselves have. Leicester City have probably been guilty of being too cautious with him themselves, but as Craig Shakespeare looks forward to preparing for the future, at least a season more would be worth it for Demarai Gray.
