Leonardo Ulloa is close to agreeing a new deal with Leicester City – that’s according to Sky Sources.

The Argentine was expected to bid farewell to the King Power Stadium this summer, having endured a torrid time with the club after a failed deadline day move.

The former Premier League winner had all but sealed a £7.5 million transfer to relegation threatened Sunderland before it all fell apart. However, Ulloa pledged to be professional, and it seems his behaviour has impressed the boss.

Leicester were resigned to lose the striker before Craig Shakespeare gave him the sort of guarantee that he had been looking for under Claudio Ranieri. It is claimed that a fallout with the Italian was one of the reasons why Ulloa wanted a transfer.

As many as three Spanish clubs, namely Getafe, Levante and Real Betis are still monitoring his situation and would try to jump in if the contract talks break down, something that looks very unlikely now despite Kelechi Iheanacho’s deal nearing a completion.

The Manchester City striker has already agreed a deal in principle, with the image rights and other contractual issues still to be resolved. Iheanacho’s arrival would mean that there are as many as five options up top in Jamie Vardy, Ahmed Musa, Islam Slimani, Leonardo Ulloa and the new face.

It’ll be fascinating to see how the Leicester City boss manages to give all of his forwards a decent playing time, especially with young Demarai Gray now beginning to voice his frustration at being a mere squad player.
