Foxes in the market: Personal terms agreed with Riyad Mahrez
A.S. Roma have agreed personal terms with Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, according to Mediaset in Italy.
However, the Serie A club are yet to meet Leicester City’s demands, who are reportedly asking for a fee in the region of £45-50 million.
Roma are understood to have submitted an initial offer worth £20 million, which has already been rejected by Leicester City, as per Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol. They are expected to come with an improved offer in the coming days.
The Italian club has come out of nowhere to emerge as Riyad Mahrez’s most likely destination. The Algerian has been long been linked with a move to Arsenal, with most of the reports suggesting that he was North London bound. As it turns out, though, Mahrez was never the Gunners’ first choice – it’s Thomas Lemar who was and still is.

A.S. Roma were reportedly monitoring Mahrez’s situation all this time as they looked to replace Mohamed Salah themselves. The former Chelsea winger sealed a £45 million move to Liverpool, leaving Eusebio Di Francesco with the enormous task of looking for someone equally as good. Whether or not will Riyad Mahrez be able to replicate Salah is an interesting question.
The Algerian now appearing to be increasingly desperate to pack his bags, it’s almost obvious that Mahrez won’t be leaving many good memories behind, despite being the chief force behind the historic Premier League triumph of 2015/16. Safe to say, he killed and buried the best bits of his Leicester City career all by himself.
