Leicester City 1-1 West Bromwich Albion: What we learned
Expect tactical flexibility
As Craig Shakespeare made his final two changes, Leicester City switched over to a back three – probably the first time they’ve done so in quite a while. City had Danny Simpson, Elliott Moore and Wes Morgan at the back, Marc Albrighton and Christian Fuchs as wing-backs, a midfield three of Danny Drinkwater, Andy King and Vicente Iborra, and Jamie Vardy and Leonardo Ulloa up front.
It certainly doesn’t feel like it’s the last we have seen of that system (3-5-2), which again is good news. For a team that aspires to finish in the top four, tactical switches as these are crucial, and Shakespeare has addressed that.
We saw how Arsenal benefitted from a change to their conventional formation, so there remains no reason as to why won’t it work for Leicester City as well, given that they keep working on it.
