Demarai Gray has held talks with Leicester City over a potential move, according to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol.

As per the report, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Borussia Dortmund are all interested in him, but Leicester City are prepared to fend off any interest as they consider him a part of their long-term plans.

The England U-21s International has been frustrated by his lack of playing time since he signed for them back in 2016 from Birmingham City. Gray has made 55 appearances for City so far, 43 of which came last season – he started a mere 15 of them.

While Demarai Gray was a joy to watch on occasions, it wasn’t enough for Craig Shakespeare to make him a regular starter despite Leicester City’s struggles in the previous campaign.

However, the boss rates him very highly and made it be known that he wants to keep the young forward at the King Power Stadium. Speaking of Demarai Gray earlier in the summer, he said:

"“I understand the frustration of young players expecting and wanting more time. But on the other hand they have to be respectful of their team-mates and who is in front of them.“Hopefully he can get more game time. He’s a player of huge potential who is rated very highly here among the coaching staff and his own players.“He’s a young lad and I understand the frustrations but hopefully this season we will see him playing more.”"

As has been the case with Riyad Mahrez, this seems like a transfer saga that could drag on till the Deadline Day. It’s no secret that Gray wants to play more, but where the problem lies is fitting him into the side.

Would Craig Shakespeare be willing to bench a more matured, a more experienced player for a player as young as Demarai Gray? One would doubt so, but given the amount of talent he possesses, the Leicester boss may have to grant him his wish, or else, he can always decide in favour of a move – why wouldn’t he?
