AS Roma are preparing a fourth and final bid to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City, according to Sky Italia.

Roma have already bid thrice for the Algerian wantaway, their offers ranging from £20 million to £32 million; however, stubborn as Leicester City are, they simply aren’t willing to let their Galactico leave for an amount that’s not huge.

Such reluctance has forced the Serie A club to increase their offer for the fourth time, which, as per the reports, will be £36 million – a club record, but well below the Foxes’ valuation again.

It’s no surprise, therefore, that Leicester City are expected to rejected the fourth and final offer as well. Will that be the final nail in the coffin for Mahrez? We shall see.

Meanwhile, Craig Shakespeare has come out with a few positive words about the 26-year old winger (you rarely see that these days), assuring Foxes fans of his commitment as well as confirming that Riyad Mahrez could feature against Arsenal in the season-opener on Friday. He said:

"“I have to say he’s been very focused, when I say driven – he hasn’t given me one problem of pulling him to the side and saying, ‘oi, pull your finger out’. We know he’s come out and said that he wants to leave. Until we get a bid that is accepted that is reasonable for Leicester then he stays. As long as he stays focused, then he will be considered for selection.”"

Such words are music to the ears of anyone associated with Leicester City, but how happy Mahrez actually is remains an interesting question.

Shakey has only done what any other manager would do in such circumstances, though there’s no doubting the fact that he himself, the squad and Riyad Mahrez would all be distracted by the speculation till the Deadline Day.

In other news, another Italian giant, Inter Milan, have joined AS Roma in their chase for Mahrez.
