Nigeria Football Federation’s president makes bold claim about Ahmed Musa
Nigerian Football Association’s President Amaju Pinnick has made a bold claim about Ahmed Musa, stating that politics, not inability is the real reason behind his lack of playing time.
The 24-year old arrived for €19.5 million last summer from CSKA Moscow under title-winning manager Claudio Ranieri; however, Musa completely failed to do anything of note as he could only manage a mere four goals in 32 appearances across all competitions for Leicester City.
The arrival of Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City has further put Ahmed Musa’s place into question, and that hasn’t amused the Nigerian FA’s president, who believes that the Leicester City misfit is one of the best in the side.
While speaking of the former Super Eagles striker, Pinnick said:
"“Two days ago I called Ahmed Musa, we had a talk for like 30 minutes, of course I understand the politics going on in his game in his team. He is one of the best players in that team but it’s just politics, and that’s why he’s not playing,” Pinnick was quoted as saying by Punch.“In the shortest possible time, I will meet his coach to find out why he is not (playing). To me, he is one of the best players, so we do that for all our players.”"
At the moment, no one is sure whether there is any truth to Amaju Pinnick’s comments, but it’s obvious that Ahmed Musa’s decline has been sharp and steady for a striker who had been scoring a lot of goals prior to his arrival in the East Midlands.
The best possible solution to his misery seems a move away from Leicester City, and he could get just that with Hull City eyeing a loan-move.
The Tigers’ boss Leonid Slutsky recently dropped a major hint about a possible deal for Ahmed Musa, who he previously worked with during his four-year stint at CSKA Moscow.
Even if it’s a step down for Musa, Hull may just provide the confidence boost that he needs to rediscover his magic touch before he can play for Leicester City again.
