AS Monaco will begin their pursuit of Islam Slimani once Kylian Mbappe is sold to Paris Saint-Germain in what’s expected to be another record deal, as per Sky Sports.

The young Frenchman is expected to finalise a move to the Parc Des Princes in the next 72 hours, meaning that Leicester City could soon be in talks with the reigning Ligue 1 champions. Watford and Newcastle United are also understood be keen on signing the Algerian.

The 29-year old was signed last summer for a club record €30 million as Claudio Ranieri aimed to build on his title success; however, the Algerian failed to make the impact he was expected to, losing his place in the side just as Craig Shakespeare took over.

Islam Slimani made 31 appearances for Leicester City across all competitions last season, scoring nine and assisting five goals during that time. The “Dragon Slayer” as they used to call him, he is no longer a part of the Foxes’ plans, and Shakespeare may consider selling him.

The former Sporting striker first burst onto the scene under Watford’s current boss Marco Silva, who he had the best period of his career with. It is, therefore, believed that Silva is eager to have Islam Slimani in his side again.

Leicester City seem destined to have a hectic end to the transfer window, with Riyad Mahrez and Ahmed Musa also looking for a move away from the King Power Stadium. Like Islam Slimani, Musa has found it tough to get going too, while Mahrez simply wants to play for a bigger club.
