Leicester City are interested in a Deadline Day move for RB Salzburg’s Valon Berisha, The Sun understands.

The Foxes could be set to lose Danny Drinkwater to Chelsea in the dying stages of the transfer window, and Craig Shakespeare wants to bring in a replacement.

Salzburg’s Valon Berisha has emerged as a target, with Newcastle United also trying to get him to St. James’ Park. As per the reports, Newcastle have a stronger interest and are currently the favourites to sign him.

The Austrian club are in favour of a loan move that would include the option to buy the 24-year old for £12 million next summer. A deal, however, could be complicated because of Berisha’s national duty.

Kosovo are due to face Croatia in Zagreb on Saturday, meaning that the player would have to take time out from his team’s camp. Given how important he is to the team, the manager would certainly not want to let him leave.

Valon Berisha, who switched allegiance from Norway, is said to be an attacking player, even though he operates in the middle of the park. He has scored 36 goals in 199 appearances across all competitions, reflecting his eye for goal.

The Albanian has also won two titles during his time at RB Salzburg, meaning that he’d bring in a winning mentality to Leicester City, shall they sign him.

The Foxes are also looking to sign a centre-back, but they’ve been unable to land any of their targets, namely Jonny Evans (£23 million) and Calum Chambers, whom they’ve had their bids rejected for.
