Leicester City have agreed terms with Sporting CP for Adrien Silva, the club has confirmed.

The deal is subject to international clearance, though the transfer should go through by the end of the week despite the deadline passing on Thursday.

The Foxes lost Danny Drinkwater very late into the  Deadline Day, as the Englishman moved to Chelsea in a move that had long been anticipated, and Leicester City have reacted quickly to replace their experienced midfielder.

Adrien Silva has made 237 appearances for Sporting so far, scoring 39 goals and assisting a further 19 during that time. The 28-year old has featured 20 times for the national side as well, recently helping them to a UEFA Euro 2016 triumph.

Leicester City also signed Aleksandar Dragovic on loan from Bayer Leverkusen in another Deadline Day move, adding some much needed solidity to what has been a fragile defence for some time. The 26-year old is the sixth major signing of the summer, the other being Harry Maguire, Eldin Jakupovic, Vicente Iborra, Kelechi Iheanacho and of course, Adrien Silva.

The Austrian International, known for his tackling and commanding presence at the heart of the defence, is set to join up with City next week and may well make his debut sooner rather than later.

Leicester City are also expecting Iborra and Iheanacho to be fit soon, meaning that Shakespeare could field most of his major signings for the first time this season.

The East Midlands outfit resume their Premier League campaign against Chelsea at the King Power Stadium next Saturday. The fixture against the reigning champions marks the beginning of another tough run that includes Huddersfield Town and Liverpool twice (league and Carabao Cup).
