Leicester City returned to winning ways earlier this week as they beat Liverpool 2-0 in the Carabao Cup, sealing a place in the fourth round. Can they do the double over the Reds to make it a perfect week?

Leicester City

The Foxes know how to win again. The last victory coming some time back, it was beginning to get a bit grim at the King Power Stadium. Thankfully, Craig Shakespeare’s side have turned up at the right time against the right opposition, gifting themselves an instant lift of spirits.

Leicester City now have the same challenge on their hands again, though they’ll be up against a much more ferocious Liverpool, a much more hungry Liverpool seeking to avenge a knockout blow.

What will define the game is whether Leicester have enough steel in them, not the fire that we know they have.

Man to Watch

Jamie Vardy just loves to find the back of the net against Liverpool. He has five goals in his last three Premier League games against the men from Merseyside, and his side will rely heavily on him to conjure up some magic again.

Quotes

"“The performances [have been] okay.“It’s the small details that have let us down. We’ve been punished for any little mistake and that’s why the top sides are where they are.“When we won the league, we were doing exactly the same. We haven’t quite done that this season and we’ve been punished for it.”"

Possible XI

Schmeichel; Fuchs, Morgan, Maguire, Simpson; Ndidi, Iborra, Mahrez, Albrighton; Okazaki, Vardy.

Liverpool

Winless in four games now, Liverpool’s early season optimism has sunk to an all time low, but it’s not rock bottom yet and it can only get better for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Leicester City are no Manchester City; in fact, they aren’t even the typical Leicester at present, which gives way to the prospect of taking all three points, given that Liverpool themselves are ruthless and relentless enough to do so.

When you can’t defend anyway, it’s better to make the most of your strength.

Man to Watch

Phillipe Coutinho has the ability to single-handedly win this game for Liverpool. He tormented Leicester City in the Carabao Cup, albeit to no avail, but if he can maintain that level, the hosts would have no answer.

Quotes

"“You should never take things like this for granted but I’m not surprised by how quickly he has (Mohamed Salah) adapted,” said Jurgen Klopp.“He had a whole pre-season, so it is not as if he has had to settle in in a minute, which is what people are now expecting of Ox. He has been working with us for many weeks, so it’s no problem for him.“You cannot say he was cheap at £38m but he’s a very good player, one we were always convinced about. You could see his potential in his first game at Watford. It was really physical and maybe a few people had doubts but he played better than anyone could have imagined. He was a kid when he was at Chelsea. Now he is more mature and everything is better."

Possible XI

Mignolet; Matip, Klavan, Alexander-Arnold, Moreno; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Coutinho; Salah, Firmino, Sturridge.
