As Leicester City continue to get hammered week in and week out, the U-18s have had a contrasting start to the Premier League.

Placed third in the table, the young Foxes beat West Ham United 2-1 on Saturday at the Belvoir Drive, which means they are only two points adrift of current league leaders Chelsea in the South Division.

Trevor Peake’s side took a 2-0 lead through Tyrese Shade and Lukas Husek, with both goals assisted by Conor Tee, who had a particularly good game against the Hammers.

It was a resounding response from Leicester’s young boys, who were fresh from a 2-1 defeat – their only loss so far – to seventh-placed Tottenham Hotspur last week, as they failed to go top of the table.

Leicester City U-18s will now look to extend their advantage against Aston Villa (placed tenth) at Bodymoor Heath next week before the all-important game for the top spot against Chelsea at Belvoir Drive again.

Craig Shakespeare’s Leicester City, meanwhile, will try to take some inspiration from their younger players at a time when they just can’t seem to get a positive result.

Winless in four Premier League games now, Leicester City are coming up with more questions than they have answers, and as a result, they have a mountain to climb if they are to lift themselves up from the hole they find themselves in, let alone achieving the targets that they set at the start of the season.

The Foxes face AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
