Leicester City are ready to play the waiting game with Adrien Silva as the Portuguese awaits the word from FIFA.

It was recently understood that the Foxes had officially submitted an appeal; however, there has been no response from FIFA as yet and Leicester are in no mood to lose their patience.

The former Sporting Lisbon star was signed on the Deadline Day as a replacement for Danny Drinkwater, but a 14-second delay in the documentation meant that Leicester City failed to register him with FIFA on time, meaning that he couldn’t get his International Transfer Certificate.

Till the time Silva doesn’t get that certificate, he can’t play for City despite the fact that he is a Leicester player already.

Regardless, Silva’s manager at Sporting, Luis Goncalves, reckons that the Portugal international will get through the phase because of his mental strength. He said:

"“It’s never a good thing for a player to be stopped and when we’re talking about Adrien, who finally had the possibility of joining the Premier League and being able to prove his value, it’s very bad,” he said.“From a very young age he showed great maturity and, of course, that will help to overcome this situation.“Adrien is very strong psychologically and will overcome this for sure.”"

Shall Leicester City fail to get a decision in their favour, it would mean that the 28-year old would have to watch from the stands up until January, which is when the East Midlanders can simply submit the papers and officially announce their £25 million signing.

His absence may well prove tough to handle, though, as Leicester City’s midfield problems continue to burgeon. Drinkwater already gone, they don’t have that driving force in the middle of the park anymore.

It’s clear that Matty James and Wilfred Ndidi aren’t the answer, and Vicente Iborra alongside the latter won’t create much either, even if he does strengthen the side.
