Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy has been left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad to face Slovenia and Lithuania in the final two World Cup qualifiers.

The 30-year old sustained a minor hip injury and hadn’t trained up until today, though Craig Shakespeare is confident that he’ll be fit to face AFC Bournemouth on Saturday at the Vitality Stadium, having eased him into training today.

Talking ahead of the the weekend’s game, the Leicester City boss said:

"“Vardy had not trained until today (Thursday) because we’re managing his hip,” said Shakespeare of the striker, who was forced off at Huddersfield a fortnight ago.“You want to make sure the individuals are okay (when they are on international duty), because you want them to come back with a clean bill of health.“With Jamie, we needed him to train today, we wanted him to train, but we’re managing him through a slight issue with his hip.”"

Jamie Vardy’s injury apart, Leicester don’t have any other fresh injury woes, with Robert Huth and Matty James still sidelined. While the German was ruled out before the start of the season for a couple of months after undergoing ankle surgery during the summer, James has only recently been out of action with an Achilles problem.

"“Huth is not ready,” Shakespeare confirmed. “It’s one step forward, two steps back.“He was ahead of schedule, but had setbacks along the way. We have to be really mindful of where he tread with Robert, so he won’t be considered for the time being.“It’s in the same foot, but in a different part of the foot.“Matty is in a boot for protection. That boot is due to come off in the next five to seven days and then we’ll reassess him from there. Yes (he’s a while away)."

Shakespeare also gave the news that every Leicester City fan has been wanting to hear for some time: Vicente Iborra is finally fit to start a game on Saturday. The Spaniard hasn’t featured in a single Premier League fixture ever since his arrival because of a groin injury, but that won’t be the case anymore.

"“Iborra is fit to start. He’s trained fully now for the past few weeks. He’s getting up to speed and we’re pleased with the way he’s progressing.”"

Vicente Iborra now fit, we may expect to see a different City line-up, and it’s Andy King who could make way for the 29-year old. Riyad Mahrez may be dropped too after a poor run of form,  assisting a mere two goals in six appearances.

Here’s how the XI could look against the Cherries:

Schmeichel; Fuchs, Maguire, Morgan, Simpson; Iborra, Ndidi, Albrighton, Gray; Okazaki, Vardy.
