Leicester City have their eyes firmly set on Burnley manager Sean Dyche as the Foxes look to replace Craig Shakespeare.

Leicester sacked Shakespeare on Tuesday, just four months after the Englishman had taken over from Claudio Ranieri. Currently placed 18th in the Premier League table, City have won just one league game this season against Brighton and Hove Albion, losing four and drawing the other three games.

While they have done well in the Carabao Cup, having recently beaten Liverpool 2-0 to progress to the round of 16, the team’s performances have been well below the expectations, leading to the sacking of Craig Shakespeare.

With Michael Appleton temporarily taking charge, Leicester City are are in no mood to make any mistake as far as a managerial appointment is concerned this time, and Sean Dyche has emerged as the top candidate as a direct result.

Arguably the best English manager at the moment, Sean Dyche’s achievements with Burnley have been no fluke – it’s what he has been preparing them for. The Clarets are placed seventh in the league with 13 points, having only lost one game so far and look destined to finish in the top half of the premiership if things continue as they are.

However, the 46-year old has always had to deal with financial constraints, and Leicester City are looking to take advantage of that by offering him a £2 million-a-year deal and cash to spend.

It remains unlikely that Sean Dyche would want to end a five-year tenure on such a note, especially when he is on the verge of achieving something special with Burnley, but if the Foxes do make an impressive offer, will he be able to refuse it?
