Leicester City youngster Demarai Gray is targeting a date at Wembley Stadium for the Foxes and their fans.

It’s fair to say that Leicester City have had a rough start to the 2017/18 season. The Foxes are in the bottom half of the Premier League table and have only won two matches from their their opening nine.

This difficult start has led to the sacking of manager Craig Shakespeare, the man who replaced club legend Claudio Ranieri, and has supporters fearing a lengthy relegation battle.

However, a match up tonight against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup can help ease some of these fears or at least assure them for a few days. Demarai Gray knows the challenge ahead of the Foxes, and the danger that Leeds possess but is confident that his side can progress.

The youngster spoke at length to the Leicester Mercury about the tie and also threw in a slightly passively aggressive comment about how the competition is a good opportunity for players like him who have not gotten much of a chance in the team.

"“The competition is a good one. It’s an opportunity for the lads who aren’t playing much to get some game-time. We’re confident and hopefully we can progress. We know Leeds are a good team and they’re doing well in the Championship.”"

The winger has been limited to three starts this season and has almost exclusively come off the bench in the Premier League. He has shown great promise in the past but it’s hard to blame former manager Shakespeare for leaning on more experienced players as the club struggled.

However, if he starts and plays well tonight, then Gray could put himself in line for a larger role with the next manager, whoever that may be.

Gray also spoke about how this match could be a nice distraction from the club’s struggles in the Premier League and how great a trip to the iconic Wembley would be for the fans.

"“It takes you away from the Premier League. It’s a good tie for us and we want to get as far as possible. If we can get to Wembley, it will be great for the team and great for the fans.”"

The King Power Stadium should be sold out and rocking tonight as the Foxes welcome their former Championship rival with the hopes of advancing to the quarterfinal of the competition.

Leicester City may be struggling in the league, but if Demarai Gray has anything to say about it, then they’ll be all set for a quarterfinal tie in a few weeks.
