Report: Claude Puel set to be named Leicester City manager
Leicester City are set to name former Southampton manager Claude Puel as their new manager.
Puel is understood to have successfully held talks with the club, and they are now ready to hand him the keys to the kingdom.
The 56-year old isn’t the only candidate to have been considered by Leicester City, with former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, Carlo Ancelotti, Burnley’s Sean Dyche, Watford’s Marco Silva, Huddersfield Town’s David Wagner and Ryan Giggs in the reckoning as well.
However, it seems that the Foxes’ hunt is over as they now prepare to announce Claude Puel’s arrival.
One of the major reasons behind his appointment is the experience that he holds, plus his record at Southampton, where he led the Saints to an eighth-place finish and a league cup final (where they lost 3-2 to Manchester United) in what proved to be his only season at the St. Mary’s Stadium.
Puel is particularly recognised for his time in France, where he worked with AS Monaco, Lille, Olympique Lyonnais and OGC Nice, the highlights being his Ligue 1 win with Monaco in 2000 and a UEFA Champions League semi-final with Lyon in 2010.

Shall he be appointed, he’d undoubtedly be a decent choice, though the final judgement will ultimately come down to the results that Leicester City achieve.
The Foxes are currently placed 14th in the Premier League table with just nine points from as many games so far and only a point above the relegation zone.
Since Craig Shakespeare’s departure, however, they’ve won two consecutive games, following their 2-1 win against Swansea City with a 3-1 victory over Leeds United the other night, progressing to the Carabao Cup quarter-final.
