Puel shows his gratitude to “fantastic” fans

Leicester City’s new manager Claude Puel has thanked fans for making him feel welcome following their 2-0 home win over Everton.
Puel took over from predecessor Craig Shakespeare last week and the Frenchman received a standing ovation from the City fans prior to kickoff.
Goals from Jamie Vardy and Demarai Gray ensured Leicester the points, in a first half display that exhilarated the home support.
"He said: “I want to thank the fantastic fans for their warm welcome because it was fantastic also for the players.“For the first game thank you very much. There was a lot of emotion to feel this good feeling.”"
Their first-half performance was reminiscent of what took Leicester to the top of the Premier League table back in 2015. Vardy got on the score-sheet for the sixth time this season and his goal-scoring form will play a pivotal part to Puel’s success.
His goal also meant that he has now scored in the first game of all the last three Leicester manager’s first games in charge.
Leicester find themselves four points clear of safety and have only suffered one defeat in their last five Premier League games.
The former Southampton boss claimed that the spirit within the squad was high and that success would come if the fans continued their support.
"He added: “The atmosphere around the team is very important to have the possibility to work with this tremendous support.“We have to work on defending together and attacking together with a lot of information.”"
The Foxes come up against Stoke City next time out and will hope to head into the international break with back to back wins.
Puel has warned fans to expect more of the same and he looked forward to having a full week to work with his team.
"He continued: “Gradually we have to improve together. It was a good start but we can do better.“We have to work on the training pitch and the details are very important and can make the difference.”"
Leicester’s next five games see them come up against Stoke, West Ham and Burnley, all teams placed in the bottom half. If they can fabricate wins against these, Puel could well march his side up the Premier League table sooner rather than later.
