Claudio Ranieri turned down Leicester City before Claude Puel appointment
Claudio Ranieri reportedly turned down Leicester City before the Foxes appointed Claude Puel as their new manager.
As per Italian outlet Corrier Dello Sport, Claudio Ranieri was approached by Leicester in an attempt to bring him back to the King Power Stadium, though the 66-year old duly rejected.
It was always going to be tough to bring him back after the Foxes initially sacked him in February 2017, maybe a but unfairly. Claudio Ranieri may have had a tough time in his second season in the East Midlands, but to forget his mammoth achievement with Leicester City in such a short space of time most certainly didn’t make sense – it still doesn’t.
The former Greece manager is now at FC Nantes, enjoying a considerably good spell with the French club. Although placed fifth in the Ligue 1 table, the Les Canaris have 20 points from 11 games, and a defensive record that’ll please Paolo Maldini to go with the offensive numbers that’ll be of interest to Tony Pulis.

Nantes have conceded just nine goals in the league so far, though the fact they have only scored eight themselves is why they are not in the top four. However, their current position is still much higher than where you’d expect them to be, meaning that Claudio Ranieri is still doing a fine job.
Leicester City, meanwhile, are on the up themselves after two consecutive wins in the Premier League; 2-1 against Swansea City and 2-0 against Everton. The Foxes next face Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday.
