As we celebrate Leicester City’s 133rd birthday, we look back on the five greatest goals scored by the club.
Leicester Fosse played their first game 133 years ago to the day.
Since then, there have been many highs and lows for the club now known as Leicester City. During which some spectacular goals were scored, let’s take a look at the top five.
#5 Lilian Nalis v Leeds United
Back in 2003/4, Leeds were considered one of the biggest clubs in the country, and for Leicester to tear them apart 4-0 picking up their first league win of the season was some feat.
The first of those goals came from Nalis, a subline left-footed volley from waaaaaaaaaaay out.
#4 Steve Claridge vs Crystal Palace
Some may know Claridge from his work on the BBC’s The Football League Show, but back in his playing days he scored the goal to take the Foxes to the Premier League by scoring the winner in the Play-off final against Crystal Palace.
#3 Eden Hazard vs Tottenham Hotspur
Now, this may be a controversial one, seeing as this isn’t actually a Leicester goal and Hazard never played for Leicester, but hear me out.
Hazard scoring against Tottenham was what clinched Leicester’s historic Premier League title, which sparked those celebrations.
#2 Jamie Vardy vs Liverpool
We had to include this, didn’t we.
Definitely the most iconic goal of Leicester’s historic 2015/16 season. The goal came out of nowhere, just a lobbed ball up field for Vardy to chase, as he so often did.
This time, he saw Simon Mignolet slightly off his line and just went for it, and boy he sure brought the house down.
#1 Muzzy Izzet v Grimsby Town
It was close, but it had to be that man. The Turkish legend scored Leicester’s greatest ever goal away to Grimsby Town on a Tuesday night. How glamourous.
I won’t waffle on for too long here, so just watch and enjoy.
