Islam Slimani could be on his way out of Leicester City in January, reports French newspaper L’Expression.

The 29-year old has largely been out of favour since his record move to the King Power Stadium, making a mere 38 appearances across his two seasons in the East Midlands so far.

Islam Slimani has been among the goals this campaign, netting four of them in the League Cup; however, he has barely got playing time in the Premier League, with just one start to show for.

Although things may yet change for the Algerian under new manager Claude Puel, it’s highly unlikely that he would want to be at Leicester City anymore, especially after the way he has been treated at the club.

Newcastle United, Watford and AS Monaco have all been linked to the former Sporting striker, though none of the three sides have continued their pursuit because of Leicester City’s £30 million asking price.

Shall the price go down, however, then Watford might be Islam Slimani’s favourite destination because of his good working relationship with Marco Silva. Slimani himself confirmed that there had been talks between him and the Portuguese during the summer. He said:

"“I had a conversation with Marco Silva, who was my coach at Sporting, and he was very interested in having me on the team.“He presented me with a magnificent project, but unfortunately it did not materialise. The leaders of Leicester City told me they wanted me here.“But they are things of the past, now I am focused on my team.”"

Islam Slimani looks destined for a move away from Leicester City regardless of what Puel does with him. The Foxes already have an embarrassment of strikers in their ranks, of which, only Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki are definite starters.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa have endured a similar time as Slimani so far, and while Iheanacho may almost inevitably nail down a place, it doesn’t look good for his Nigerian and the Algerian counterpart.
