Thomas Bradley Alderman’s picks

Jamie Vardy

Leicester’s talisman and embodiment of the title winning fairytale. He’s consistently been the top goalscorer and continued his selection at international level.

Six goals in 11 games is a very respectable return for a striker in a mid table side (0.55 goals per game). Vardy has always played with intense passion and dedication to his craft and teammates – long may that continue.

Harry Maguire

Maguire has made the switch from teams seem effortless, earning an England call-up in the process. He assisted a goal for Okazaki on his debut at Arsenal and followed it up with a header on his home debut.

There was no looking back from this moment. His control of the defence as a leader has been exceptional. It would benefit him to continue the way he has, maybe with slightly more care while bringing the ball out of defence. Claude Puel’s new passing system, however, will complement Maguire’s style.

Shinji Okazaki

The Japanese striker is having a wonderful season. After only six game, he has matched his goalscoring tally in each of his previous two seasons at Leicester City. Adding a higher amount of goals has elevated Shinji Okazaki’s status within the club from cult to imperative in the search to qualify for Europe.

His work ethic, battling and unpredictability combined with impact as a substitute or starter make Shinji Okazaki an unquestionably important part of the team. Evidence of this is his keeping Islam Slimani and Kelechi Iheanacho out of the first team.
