Having led early on, Leicester City failed to see the game out against West Ham and were pegged back on the stroke of half-time.

Goals from Marc Albrighton and  Cheikhou Kouyate  levelled the scores but how did the Leicester players fare. Foxes of Leicester rates them from back to front.

STARTING LINEUP:

Kasper Schmeichel – Rating 7

Reliable with shot stopping and commanding his defence as always. Certain times his distribution was questionable or badly executed.

Held and cleared the ball when needed to with little bother. Unlucky to lose his clean sheet although rarely tested.

His positioning was wrong for West Ham’s goal if he wasn’t going to attempt to catch or punch the ball bit did make some solid saves.

Defenders

Danny Simpson – Rating 8.5

The left-back has improved greatly since Claude Puel  arrived last month and the Frenchman has gave him more offensive freedom.

Did his job increasingly capably. He needs to get forward more often when possible, by overlapping right sided Marc Albrighton.

Saved two sure goals with fantastic headed clearances. One of the best halves of football I’ve seen from him.

Again competent during the second-half. Although there was little outlet in front of him.

Wes Morgan – Rating 7

Much more comfortable on the ball with Maguire at his side. Struggled with pace against certain opponents, giving them space in behind. Although made it back successfully. Beaten a little easier in some 50/50s, uncharacteristic for the captain.

Held the line well when defending high balls with effective opponents in the air lurking.

Wanted his teammates playing a high line, second-half. Steady and increasingly accomplished. Never played a poor pass in a sensitive area, that flaw needed addressing, so Puel has done so.

Harry Maguire – Rating 7.5

Tried the long ball early, looking for Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. . Marked West Ham striker Andy Carroll superbly, if he couldn’t win the ball high he kept close to his opponent. Not always successful with his passing yet always direct not to mention positive.

Again made great strides running from defence with the ball toward West Ham’s box. Another strong performance to add to husband collection.

Christian Fuchs – Rating 7

Occasionally made sloppy passes, uncharacteristically.

Defended solidly against a quality opponent early on.

His long throws and occasional attacking play were reliable as usual. Overall a competent display.
