Leicester City shocked Tottenham Hotspur and came away 2-1 winners to record Claude Puel’s second win in charge

Goals from Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy sunk a Tottenham team that dominated possession but lacked a clinical touch.

Vardy raced onto Marc Albrighton’s lobbed through ball and lifted his effort over the onrushing Hugo Lloris for his 100th Premier League goal.

Alarm bells then rang for Leicester, as Moussa Sissoko raced clear of goal before striking an effort that clipped Kasper Schmeichel. It was on its way to equalising the scoreline but Vicente Iborra was on hand to clear the ball off the line.

Then Mahrez doubled the Foxes’ lead just before half time with a stunning strike against the run of play.

Cutting in from the right flank, Mahrez dribbled past two defenders before curling an effort past Lloris to send the Leicester fans into raptures.

However Spurs clawed one back deep into the second half, as Harry Kane struck a powerful effort into the top corner on the turn.

Kane has in fact scored 11 league and cup goals against Leicester, more than any other side in his career.

It was a result that shocked the world, but what did Twitter have to say during the game?

The Algerian has now played a part in five goals from his last seven appearances, proving he could well be back to his best under Puel.

Whereas Vardy’ secured his 100th Premier League goal on the day that marked the two-year anniversary of when he created history by scoring in eleven consecutive games.

While local youngster Hamza Choudhury made his Premier League debut for Leicester, coming on for Shinji Okazaki as the home side began to set up shop.
