Shinji Okazaki – 7

The man from Japan didn’t get on the ball much early on. When he had a chance to play he made quick short direct passes into feet.

There were no clear chances for him to score in the first half, where on another day he may have buried them.

His unquestionable work ethic especially off the ball was desperately needed, not one defender got a moments rest.  Unlucky not to score on 53 with a good header. He does need to try to add goals to his game tally. Having scored five in his 12 appearances.

Jamie Vardy – 8

He made a flying start, as per usual. Pressing defenders, running onto the over-the-top ball, he was played in and executed a  calm lob over Hugo Lloris.

With less possession in the first half he never capitulated. Everything he did worked, just his presence seemed to attract the ball.

Substitutes:

Demarai Gray –

Rather than clear aimlessly while Leicester City were under pressure, Gray tried to clear into space. He was unfortunate not to score or assist on the fast break, where he could have arguably been more selfish.

Incredibly he beat the rapid Son Heung-Min for pace while counter attacking, showing Puel what they were missing from the beginning.

Hamza Choudhury –

On his Premier League debut the youngster came on at 82 minutes into a defensive central midfield position.

At 2-1 he had to defend. The game was rushing him by a little as Spurs dominated proceedings yet he marked his man closely. Made an important tackle from the clinical Kane, late on.

Islam Slimani –

Chased everything down amicably  although he struggled to get any opportunity to get on the ball after coming on with two minutes of normal time left.
