Leicester City vs Burnley: What happened last time?
By James Lassey
After an impressive 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur last time out, Claude Puel’s Leicester host high-flying Burnley at the King Power stadium on Saturday, but how did the clash unfold in their previous encounter?
For their most recent meeting, you have to go back as far as last January to when Burnley overcame the then City manager Claudio Ranieri’s side 1-0.
The Foxes travelled to Turf Moor in 16th place having only gained 21 points from 23 games, the lowest ever total at this stage of a campaign by any reigning Premier League champion.
Whereas Burnley went into the showdown in good form having won nine matches, their most in a single season in the competition’s history surpassing their previous best set in the 2009/10 season when they achieved seven.

A controversial winner from substitute Sam Vokes three minutes from time secured the Clarets the points and ended the Foxes four game unbeaten run at Turf Moor.
However, Ranieri believed the Welshman handled the ball in the build-up to his goal.
Replays had since shown that the ball did in fact strike Vokes hand and referee Mike Dean either did not see it or adjudged Vokes’ movement towards the ball not to be intentional.
"“It was a handball – it was for everybody, for the television, but not for the referee,” Ranieri told the media after the game."
Vokes was only on the field for eight minutes before he broke the deadlock and no goals from City meant that they were the only Premier League outfit yet to score a goal in 2017.
There were also penalty claims for both sides. Leicester striker Jamie Vardy had looked to break clear until he felt the brute force by goalkeeper Tom Heaton inside the box but protests were to be waved away.
Burnley also had shouts turned down just before the break following a push by now Chelsea player Danny Drinkwater on current Everton centre-back Michael Keane.
The loss left Ranieri’s side without an away win all season and the Italian was later sacked three weeks after.
Although the defeat was the first time Burnley finished victorious over the Foxes in their eleven former meetings.
Overall, City trail 34 wins to Burnley’s 44 in head to heads having drawn the other 30.
