The two have not met since Leicester City’s title-winning season two years ago when Newcastle were succumbed to a 1-0 defeat in what was Rafa Benitez’s first game in charge.

Since then, Newcastle have been relegated from and promoted back into the Premier League and the Foxes have made three managerial changes whilst experiencing an European Cup run.

Back in March 2016, a spectacular Shinji Okazaki over-head kick claimed Leicester the points and extended their lead at the top to five with eight games remaining. We all know how that season ended.

However, the loss left Newcastle second from bottom and equalled their club record of seven consecutive away defeats in the Premier League.

Before the game then Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri played down his side’s chances of being crowned Champions and insisted his side were aiming for Europa League qualification. Although his gesticulating and rallying definitely suggested otherwise.

The win saw the Foxes field an unchanged starting eleven for the 10th time, more than any other Premier League club. A team-sheet every Foxes fan across the globe can name from back to front.

This was the 12th time that Ranieri’s men had won by a one goal margin, a statistic no other team could match.

Leicester City trail Newcastle in the head to heads overall, they have 42 wins to their 51, with the duo drawing 27 times.

Saturday’s hosts have lost to Leicester in their last four clashes, with Foxes manager Claude Puel looking to make it five consecutive Leicester wins.
