Riyad Mahrez is set to stay at Leicester City, according to the bookmakers.

The Algerian is 4/6 on favourite to extend his stay at Leicester beyond the January transfer window, which is a bit of a shock after all of the speculation that has surrounded Riyad Mahrez since the summer.

Arsenal, however, still remain the favourites to sign him from the King Power Stadium, with the odds standing at 4/1. Behind them are Chelsea at 6/1, while AS Roma, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester United remain the outsiders with odds at 12/1.

Interestingly, there are a number of other top foreign clubs in the list as well. FC Barcelona are 14/1 for the 2015/16 player of the year, the Milan clubs and Bayern Munich are 20/1, whereas Everton, Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco are all 25/1. The odds on Riyad Mahrez leaving Leicester City for any club are 11/10.

Mahrez has been in sensational form since Claude Puel has taken over the reins at Leicester. He has netted four times (and assisted once) in nine Premier League games, playing a vital role in the recent run of form that has seen Leicester City make it into the top half of the table, and in contention for one of the UEFA Champions/Europa League spots.

As he continues to shine under the Frenchman, there’s also a growing sense of fear around the East Midlands, with many reckoning that he may as well be pushing himself to make a strong case for a move next month.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Hatem Ben Arfa has been touted a potential replacement for Mahrez because of his ability as well as Claude Puel’s relations with him. January could be quite a month at the King Power Stadium.
